Choral
Music Director
The school seeks an experienced and dynamic Director of Choral Music beginning
in the fall of 2010. The key role of the Choral Director is to promote and
expand the choral music program. The candidate must possess at least a bachelor’s
degree with a concentration in vocal performance, preferably a higher degree
in choral conducting and/or vocal performance. While recent graduates will
be considered, the most competitive candidates will have significant experience
directing upper school choirs, be prepared to teach private voice lessons,
display competency on the piano, and have excellent communication and interpersonal
skills.
Responsibilities: The
candidate will be responsible for overseeing all aspects
of the choral music program including, but not limited to:
directing at least one choral ensemble, preparing repertoire
for at least three major performances each year, managing
the choral music budget, and promoting and expanding the
current scope and size of the choral ensemble. In addition
to the choral music responsibilities, the candidate will
also have the opportunity to teach a music appreciation course
to freshman students, serve as the vocal music director for
the winter musical and teach private voice lessons. Additional
activities and responsibilities, such as dormitory and activity
duties, will be expected of the candidate as a faculty member
in a boarding school environment.

Director
of Video Studies
The Director of Video Studies position is designed to be filled by an individual
with filmmaking skills and experience teaching video editing using iMovie HD6
and Final Cut Pro. All candidates must be able to teach all one semester video
courses currently in the course catalog, including: Video Production, an introduction
to the aspects of shooting and video editing; Freshman Video, a scaled-down version
of the Video Production class; and Meaning and Media, a course combing elements
of shooting, editing, conversations about character and ethics, and creating
videos related to those conversations. A working knowledge of Motion, Flix Pro
Exporter, Cinematize, and other programs in the Final Cut Pro Studio 2 suite
are also essential. The Director of Video Studies is also expected to oversee
all video equipment used by the classes and be involved in the production of
videos as they might arise for various departments including, but not limited
to, the Office of Advancement, the Office of Communications, the Health Committee,
and the academic departments. Finally, the position includes dormitory duty,
extra-curricular activities, and running after school video groups.

Mathematics Position
Blair Academy seeks an experienced Mathematics teacher
for employment beginning in the 2010-2011 school year.
Very strong preference will be given to candidates with
an advanced, subject area degree and a minimum of five
years of comparable teaching experience. All candidates
must be able to teach all levels, ninth grade Algebra
1 through Multi-Variable Calculus, and have both an exceptional
work ethic and sense of humor. The position includes dormitory duty,
extra-curricular activities, and coaching.

Spanish
Position
Blair seeks an experienced Spanish teacher for the 2010-2011 school year.
The preferred candidate will be able to teach levels 1 – Advanced Placement
and will possess a minimum of 5 years teaching experience and an advanced
subject area degree, in addition to significant travel or education abroad
in a Spanish-speaking country. The candidate will also participate in dormitory
duty, extra-curricular activities, and coaching.

Blair Academy is a co-ed,
9-PG boarding school of 435 students located in rural northwestern
New Jersey, approximately one hour from New York City. The
school is 75% - 80% boarding, possesses fine facilities and
faculty housing, and is committed to the continuing education
