As the winter athletic season comes to a close, the Headmasters' Societies Games are an enjoyable way for students to celebrate Blair Academy’s history and get excited for spring activities by trying something new. Four teams—Breed, Howard, Kelley and Sharpe—each named for a former Blair Headmaster, compete in the games. Many people have compared the teams to the four houses from J.K. Rowling’s Harry Potter novels. Team spirit is high as students participate in a variety of events throughout the week to gain points for their respective teams. Headmasters' Week is one of the highlights of the year!

The week started on Sunday evening with the Sorting Hat Challenge, a spoof from Harry Potter. Everyone gathered in DuBois Theatre to eagerly watch as new students were placed on their teams. The Junior Class Council even asked Head of School Chris Fortunato to consider implementing a Headmasters' Holiday if enough people showed up to watch! (A Headmasters' Holiday is a random day throughout the year on which the Head of School generously give students the day off from classes!)

Throughout the week, students and teachers will compete in basketball games, squash matches, scavenger hunts, brain puzzles, spelling bees, baking competitions, mural painting and a big talent show finale. On Monday night, a family-style dinner will be held during which the members of team Breed, last year’s winning team, will dine in the Wean Room, reminiscing about and celebrating their victory. Each team’s captain will make a speech to get everyone hyped up. It is always an exciting dinner!

Overall, Headmasters' Week is a fun time at Blair Academy, and you can expect everyone to show support for their team by wearing red and white for Breed, orange and blue for Kelley, green and gray for Howard, and purple and yellow for Sharpe. Can’t wait to see what happens this week!

Senior Caroline Devlin will cover a number of campus events this year in her role as intern to Blair's communications department.
