Blair Academy’s annual Peddie Week and Peddie Day brought incredible energy, school spirit and tradition to campus once again. Today, the Bucs headed to Hightstown with a fierce determination to bring home the Kelley-Potter Cup, but despite a valiant effort across all sports, the ChickensFalcons edged out a win by a close 6-5. The competition was spirited and intense, with our students giving their all and representing Blair with pride, sportsmanship and unwavering support for their teammates.
The Bucs traveled to Hightstown with a mountain to climb, suffering an early loss to Peddie’s JV girls’ tennis on Wednesday. Blair was down by two points after JV field hockey also fell to Peddie, but they rebounded quickly with wins from both varsity soccer teams. The varsity girls’ tennis team loss to Peddie was quickly evened out by a big victory from the varsity field hockey team. At 4-4, with only football and cross country matchups remaining, spectators flocked to the football field to see Blair trounce Peddie, with a final score of 42-7, securing the MAPL championship. The win, however sweet, was not enough to secure the Kelley-Potter Cup’s rightful place on the hilltop, as it was a Peddie clean sweep for cross country, dealing the Bucs their final blow.
The lead-up to Saturday’s showdown was packed with excitement and tradition, featuring all the classic Blair stunts that make the rivalry unforgettable as well as a new event in place of the bonfire. The entire student body joined forces to “storm” Sharpe House on Thursday, creating a memorable scene that set the tone for the celebrations. Friday’s Peddie Eve pep rally was another highlight, with Hardwick Hall transformed by student performances and spirited cheers, followed by a surprisingly memorable laser light show on the turf.
Beyond the day’s results, Peddie Day is about so much more than winning or losing. It’s a time-honored tradition rooted in camaraderie, respect and school pride, a celebration of hard work and dedication shared by generations of Bucs. The leadership of our Senior Class Council, along with the energy and support of our faculty and staff, ensured that this Peddie Day continued the legacy with enthusiasm and heart.
