Head of School Chris Fortunato has invited Blair alumni to participate in a “Stay at Home” photo challenge! Graduates of every generation are welcome to submit a photo of something that brings them inspiration or comfort during this time when we are all staying at home to stop the spread of COVID-19. Submissions will be compiled into a slideshow that will be shared with residents of area nursing homes and assisted living facilities, in an effort to brighten their days.
Mr. Fortunato led a similar photo challenge for students, faculty and staff members in April, and the response was overwhelming (view some of the photos here). “We received more than 100 photos that we compiled into a presentation that has already been shared with nursing home residents,” he said. “We’d love to follow up with an alumni presentation by the end of the month.”
Alumni are asked to take a photo of something that moves them in some way—people (with permission, of course), nature, a neighborhood scene, sunset/sunrise, pets—anything that inspires hope and might bring a smile during this pandemic. Email it to Mr. Fortunato (firstname.lastname@example.org) by May 15 along with your name, class year and city, state and country in which you live. “We’ll take it from there and create an artful slideshow that showcases the best of our collective Blair spirit,” Mr. Fortunato continued. “And, of course, I’ll share the slideshow with our alumni body once it is complete.”
Every alum who submits a photo for the “Stay at Home” photo challenge will be entered into a raffle, and 10 winners will receive an item of their choice from the Blair bookstore. In addition, Blair will donate $100 in each winner’s name to a New Jersey food bank struggling to meet the needs of families during the COVID-19 crisis.
“I hope many alumni will take a moment to share pictures with me, our community and those who will benefit from this small effort,” Mr. Fortunato concluded. “Go Bucs, and I hope everyone is safe and well!”
