Despite Snow, Winter Ball Brings Fun in the Sun
Ashley Taube

As the snow fell outside, the climate in the Romano Dining Hall was ideal for a seaside soirée at this year’s annual Winter Ball that some Bucs are calling the highlight of the season. Students braved the cold, dressed to impress, for an evening of delicious food, dancing and enjoying time with their friends. Behind the scenes, members of Blair’s dining hall staff and a dedicated group of parent volunteers ensured the night went off without a hitch and the Winter Ball was a perfect backdrop for a memorable evening under the sea.

“The students work so hard all year and they deserve this beautiful night,” Winter Ball co-chair and Blair parent Kathy Garriques P’19 ’23 ’27 shared. “There are so many talented, creative and hard-working parents who work as a team to pull it all together!”

Every year, it seems the Winter Ball can’t outdo the year before, but the seaside soiree did just that! Chosen by the students, the theme had everyone manifesting sunnier days, and the shark-infested underwater entrance set the stage. Students danced the night away under the stars—and larger-than-life moon—and enjoyed amazing desserts almost too beautiful to eat.

“It is such a special night for Blair, and the whole volunteer team works so diligently, from planning to execution, in order to make sure it is a fabulous new experience each year,” Winter Ball co-chair Meredith Muscanell P’22 ’27 added.

As the younger students retired for the evening, seniors gathered for a final moment on the dance floor with an impromptu, inspiring speech to make this semester the best of their Blair lives. They finished with  a “Bucs on Three!” cheer, a fitting ending to an amazing night together.
