Family Weekend Is a Fall Highlight at Blair
Joanne Miceli

Family Weekend (formerly Parents’ Weekend) is one of the most highly anticipated events on Blair’s annual calendar. This year’s Family Weekend took place from October 24 to 26 and featured a full slate of activities designed to give family members a true taste of their student’s life at School.

Family Weekend began with a Thursday evening reception for parents at Blairstown’s Buck Hill Brewery, a wonderful opportunity for new and veteran parents to get to know one another. Friday brought families to every corner of campus to take part in such activities as a 5K run, golf scramble, master class, tours of the newly expanded and renovated Bogle Science Center, and maker space demonstrations. Parents also attended informative sessions on college planning, athletic recruiting and student travel opportunities, as well as met their child’s teachers at departmental receptions on Friday evening.

Of course, the best part of Family Weekend was the time parents and siblings spent with their Blair students, whether they were taking part in planned activities or spending a quiet moment catching up. Friday evening’s dinner in the Romano Dining Hall is always a special and celebratory occasion, and families also enjoyed attending class with their students on Saturday morning. In addition, “Blair on Stage” performances and athletic contests provided opportunities for families to see their performing artists and athletes in action.
