The latest Romano Gallery photography exhibit, Capture the Moment…Tell the Story, showcases the work of New York-area sports photographer Vincent Carchietta. His images highlight thrilling moments, raw emotion and the intensity of athletic competition. The exhibit runs October 28 through November 22, with an artist talk on Thursday, November 6.

“Providing a deeper understanding of both the physical and emotional dimensions of sports, this exhibit displays impactful compositions, dynamic lighting and precise timing,” Mr. Carchietta explains. His photographs capture the hard work of athletes, the joy of victory, the heartbreak of defeat and the true spirit of competition. The exhibition also celebrates passionate amateur athletes, preserving their most triumphant moments in captivating digital images.

Based in northern New Jersey, Mr. Carchietta has been photographing sports in the greater New York City area since the early 2000s. His career spans a wide range of events, from professional games at major venues to the vibrant energy of high school and amateur athletics. Through his work, viewers experience the emotions tied to athletes’ dedication, competition, victories and setbacks.

“The aim is to portray the passion of athletes at every level while preserving their memories,” Mr. Carchietta says. “This gallery reflects a genuine love of the game, the athlete and all sports.”

Currently freelancing for USA Today, Imagn Images and Getty Images, Mr. Carchietta’s photographs have appeared on ESPN’s SportsCenter, during major network sporting events, and in publications including Sports Illustrated, ESPN The Magazine, The Wall Street Journal, USA Today, The New York Post and The New York Daily News. Beyond photography, Mr. Carchietta teaches computer science at West Essex High School in North Caldwell, New Jersey. He and his wife, Danielle, live in New Jersey with their four rescue dogs.

All are welcome to attend Mr. Carchietta’s artist talk at Blair Academy on Thursday, November 6, at 7 p.m. in the Armstrong-Hipkins Center for the Arts.
