After a night of celebration at prom and with commencement just around the corner, the Class of 2025 gathered in the DuBois Theatre for a meaningful and memorable event. The Senior Prize Assembly offered one of their final moments together as a class to reflect on and recognize the extraordinary achievements of their peers. In the presence of classmates, faculty and family, students were honored for their dedication, perseverance and lasting impact on the Blair community.
The evening began with the presentation of awards for academic excellence, with department chairs expressing pride in acknowledging their outstanding students. English teacher Kaye Evans revealed the seniors who had attained membership in Blair’s Cum Laude Society, while Paul Clavel ’88, Director of Athletics, commended the Buccaneers for their remarkable achievements as part of Blair’s athletic teams. In addition to the senior awards, The Apgar Award for Teaching Excellence, which honors a faculty member who has had a demonstrable impact on their students, was presented to math teacher and crew coach Kat Gould by Dean of Faculty Life Leucretia Shaw. In a presentation earlier in the week, English teacher Douglass Compton was honored with this year’s ACTA yearbook dedication, selected by the senior class.
“It’s been inspiring to witness how you’ve grown, taken risks, and fully embraced living and learning on our hilltop,” Head of School Peter G. Curran P’27 ’27 shared on behalf of faculty and staff. “As you prepare to join the ranks of more than 6,000 Blair alums across the globe tomorrow, we are deeply proud of all you have accomplished and even more excited for what lies ahead.”

The summer is an ideal time for Blair students to read beyond the required texts of our curriculum. Short stories, novels, plays, poetry, narrative nonfiction and newer forms of literature, such as the graphic novel, offer the opportunity to follow one’s curiosity, strengthen reading and writing skills, develop a greater understanding of the human condition and, of course, have some fun.
Blair’s 175-year history is filled with a mix of well-documented facts and time-honored legends passed down through generations. From ghost stories and wartime mishaps to cows mysteriously appearing in dorms, we’ve teamed up with the School's historians and storytellers to uncover some of Blair's most enduring tales. Read on for sixth installment in the series: The Peddie Newspaper.
