Last weekend, Blair Academy boys’ lacrosse captured the 2026 New Jersey Prep State Championship with an epic victory over The Hun School, marking a proud moment for the program. Just four weeks earlier, Hun had jumped out to a 6–1 first-quarter lead against Blair and went on to defeat the Buccaneers by three goals. Despite entering this spring’s tournament as the No. 1 seed, Blair had managed only one win over Hun in the past 15 years.

“In May 2025, Hun had eliminated us from the tournament in the semifinal round,” said head coach Mike Squillante. “Right away, the guys set the goal of winning it all the following year. We couldn’t be more fortunate for the buy-in from everyone involved!”

The championship game lived up to expectations, with Hun holding a one-goal lead entering the fourth quarter. That’s when Blair hit their stride.

Wilder Merton ’26 scored the game-tying goal early in the fourth quarter before Tucker Seamans ’28 put Blair ahead, giving the Buccaneers a lead they would not surrender. In the final minutes, Toby Curran ’27 connected with Jack Seeger ’27 to extend Blair’s lead to two and solidify the win. Junior goalie Kevin Cooke ’27 also delivered an exceptional performance, recording seven saves in the fourth quarter to hold Hun scoreless in the final 12 minutes.

It was a thrilling win and a fitting way for the Blair Academy Class of 2026 to leave their mark on the program!
