All In The Campaign for Blair Academy 2018-2025

Protocols Set for Athletic Spectators

Protocols Set for Athletic Spectators
Heather Sprague

Beginning April 14, Blair will allow a limited number of spectators at outdoor home sporting events. To ensure the safety and well-being of athletes, coaches, officials and spectators, we ask that anyone who comes to campus to watch an athletic contest please adhere to the following protocols:

  • Each player may only welcome two spectators per game (and children or siblings count toward that total).
  • Masks must be worn and six feet of physical distance must be maintained from individuals outside of spectators’ immediate households.
  • All visitors must check in and complete a health screening at our security tent before being permitted on campus. For every contest, the Blair athletic office will provide the security team with a list of all home games and players’ names, and security will keep a tally of the number of spectators who arrive for each player to ensure the two-person limit is not exceeded.
  • Park only in designated parking lots:
  • Annie Hall parking lot by the baseball field.
  • Hardwick Hall parking lot between the first hole of the golf course and Hampshire Field.
  • For softball, park by the Park Street maintenance building adjacent to the Kroner Field.
  • Sit only in designated areas:
  • Unless the game or match is taking place on the turf or track where seating is available, spectators must bring their own chairs.
  • Lacrosse spectators should sit in the designated area of Underwood Field, across the field from the team benches.
  • Tennis spectators should sit behind the fence at each tennis court.
  • Baseball and softball spectators should position themselves along the foul-ball lines in the right and left fields or in the outfield behind the fence.
  • Do not enter any buildings. Portable restrooms are located by the baseball field and under the Hampshire Field bleachers.
  • Please depart campus immediately after the game or match.
  • Parents should not interact with students other than their own child, and six feet of physical distance must be maintained from spectators and players.

“We are excited to see Blair parents cheering on their children from the sidelines, a sight we have sorely missed during the pandemic,” said Director of Athletics Paul Clavel ’88. “I am grateful to all our parents for their understanding and patience as we continue the spring athletic season.”
