This past weekend, the Blair girls’ and boys’ crew teams competed at Mercer Lake against fellow MAPL schools, and both teams came away as MAPL Champions. For the girls’, this marks their third-consecutive league title.
The girls’ team continued their dominant run, winning first place in the 1V, 2V, 3V and Novice 8 events. They also earned strong finishes from the 4V (second) and 5V (fourth), showcasing the program’s depth across the board.
On the boys’ side, history was made. For the first time in 17 years, the Blair men captured the overall MAPL title, propelled by second-place finishes in the 1V, 2V, 3V, 4V and Novice 8 categories. Their consistency across all boats speaks volumes about the program’s growth and momentum.
Even more remarkably, this is the first time in 17 years that both the men’s and women’s teams have brought home MAPL championship titles in the same year. It was a true milestone for Blair rowing.
"MAPLs was a great win," said Kat Gould, Blair's head boys' rowing coach. "I am happy that the guys on the team get to see the fruit of their hard work over the past three years. The MAPL win means a lot to them, and I know they will take this momentum forward into future seasons."
“This was a historic day for Blair Rowing,” said John Redos ’09, Blair’s director of rowing. “The energy was high, the racing was fast, and the culture and sportsmanship were evident throughout. Having both the boys and girls win MAPL championships in the same year is a rare and special achievement. I’m excited to see how the program continues to grow in the years ahead.”
