Sculling recap 10/31/2023

This past weekend, the Blair Sculling team finished out its season at the Head of the Schuylkill in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. The Head of the Schuykill regatta is the third largest regatta in the country and spans across two days with events for international, collegiate, masters, and junior rowing teams.

Blair had 14 athletes represented across seven different events. Six of those events consisted of single sculling in, spanning across the Jim Barker Varsity, JV, and Novice 1x's. Blair's rowers took to the historic course and finished the morning with many personal bests and efforts. Emily Tierney '24 and Allie Wolff '24 took 13th and 15th out of 33 entries in the varsity girls' 1x. In the afternoon, the single scullers lined the riverbanks to cheer on the boys' varsity double of Ethan Anthony '24 and Max Coblenz '24 who raced down the river to secure an 11th-place finish out of 44 entries.

Overall, it was a great season and the team is excited to be one of the few schools in the country that only sculls in the fall before switching to sweeping in the spring.
