2/15 ski recap

On Wednesday, the ski team had their final regular season race at Mountain Creek. Despite some stiff competition, the Blair athletes once again finished strong, closing out an excellent season and securing a spot in the postseason races. Against some of the top teams in the league, the girls' team took second and the boys' team took fourth, seconds away from the third and second place teams.

Morgan Celley '25 had another fantastic race for the girls' squad, taking 2nd place. Courtney Payne '25 followed in 12th place, only two seconds behind Morgan. Nina Diem '25 in turn was only seconds behind Courtney, earning her 14th place. Paige Celley '25 was hot on Nina's trail in 16th place, with less than a second separating her from Nina. C.C. Boellhoff '25 rounded out the varsity finishers in 20th place. With only five seconds separating Morgan from C.C. in both runs, it was a very close race.

On the boys' side, there was similar success. Captain Patrick Payne '23 skied a fantastic race, coming in 3rd. Fellow captain Ben Kotch '23 was right behind him in 6th place. Joon Park '24 rounded out the Blair boys in the top 10 with a 9th place finish. Dylan Rhee '23 was seconds behind Joon in 26th place, and Thomas Zhao '25 rounded out the varsity finishers in 32nd place.

Finally, the JV girls' team took first place out of six teams! Jaz Dellaert '26, seconds behind the varsity racers, took home first place. Captain Sloane Hamlin '23 was close behind in 5th place, with Selina Liu '26, in her first GS race at Blair, got 7th! Yunha Hwang '26 rounded out the JV team with an 11th place finish.

Qualifying racers will next take on the Race of Champions on Tuesday. Both varsity teams will then compete in the New Jersey States races next Thursday and Friday. Finally, JV racers will then compete for the JV Championships on Monday the 27th.
