Blair Swimming off to a hot start
Rhett Moroses
12/3, 12/4 Horace Mann '22-'23 swim

The varsity swim team opened their season this past Friday in a quad at Horace Mann School in New York City, winning all three dual meets. The next day, the girls' squad finished 3rd at the Hill Relays.

On Friday, Riley Bacinski '25 placed 1st in the 50 freestyle and 100 freestyle. Hannah Wilson '26 also earned 1st-place honors in the 50 freestyle and 200 freestyle. Cece Farrington '26 rounded out Blair's top finishers, as she placed 1st in the 200 freestyle as well. In addition to these top individual performances, Blair's relay team also placed first in all of the dual meets. Below are the results of the three matches on Friday:

Blair - 83, Stony Brook Girls - 82

Blair - 100, Horace Mann - 57

Blair - 125, Berkeley Carroll - 9

On Saturday, the team attended the Hill Relays in Pottstown, Pennsylvania and both girls and boys put in their best efforts. Blair girls placed third overall with 58 points, competing against Lawrenceville, Peddie, Kiski, Hill, and Perkiomen. One of the most exciting relays was the combination of Shanayah Kasam '23, Riley Bacinski, Hannah Wilson, Piper Summers '24, and Allie Wolff '24 who placed second in the “pyramid” relay with a final time of 4:57.43. Olivia Jastrzab '25, Tania Lau '24, Piper Summer, and Riley Bacinski had a strong showing in the 200 yard butterfly relay, narrowly missing second place by .05 of a second!

The Blair boys ended up 4th overall, despite injuries keeping the top 2 swimmers out of the pool. Ohm Poonsorinsiri '24 had a strong showing as the lead off in 3 different relays and Cooper Winegar '23 and Leo Munasinghe '24 impressed everyone by racing strokes they had never competed in before. One particularly strong shoutout goes to Dylan Carroll '24, who anchored the 200 free relay, passing the Perkiomen team in the last lap!

Blair will host a tri-match with The Pennington School and Belvidere High School on Thursday, December 8, at 4:30 p.m
