The varsity swim team participated in a holiday relay meet at the Hill School this past Saturday. After missing the event and the season last year, it was great for the squad to be on deck at a competitive swimming event again. This excitement lead the team to produce good results and display lots of team spirit.
Perhaps the best relay performance came in the Girls 200 Butterfly Relay, where the team of Demi Delapenha '24, Riley Bacinski '25, Piper Summers '24, and Olivia Jastrzab '25 placed first in an exciting race. The boys 200 Backstroke Relay of Tony Zhang '24, Jason Zhao '24, Ohm Poonsornsiri '23, and Ethan Lau '23 almost emulated the girls fly win, placing second to a strong Lawrenceville team. The girls 200 Breaststrokers--Tania Lau '24, Riley Bacinski '25, Jene Vicharapong '23, and Olivia Jastrzab '25 placed second in their event.
Other notable performances included the girls 200 Free Relay, featuring Allie Wolff '24, Katie Robinson '23, Ava Walters '25, and Peyton Schreiber '22, the boys 200 Free Relay--Ohm Poonsonsiri '23, Tony Zhang '24, Julian Huang '23, and Bertrand Li '23--placing third in their event behind Lawrenceville and Peddie, and the boys 200 Butterfly Relay, featuring Jason Zhao '24, Ehan Lau '23, Dirk Peereboom '25, and Will Collins '22.
The girls team and the boys team placed fourth and fifth respectively in the overall standings, rounding out a fine series of performances by the Bucs.
