Blair Academy defeated Rutgers Prep 2-1 in a close three game set. Blair started off with a lot of momentum in the first game, but Rutgers Prep edged us out. Blair dominated in the second game, going on many unanswered scoring streaks. The final game was close until the end, in which the Bucs’ stamina and perseverance allowed them to get the victory for the game and the set. Sasha Bakulina ’21 had an excellent game, accounting for a staggering ten digs, seven kills, and three consecutive aces. Chloe Rayer ’20 also had an outstanding game, having four aces, four kills, and six digs. Ashley Dai ’21 set up the team for success, proving 16 set assists and eleven set attempts. Finally, Grace Higgins ’21 proved to be a sizable threat in the front row, supplying three solo blocks and four kills. The team played with determination and heart, hustling for every ball and helping each other play to the best of their ability. Rutgers Prep has caused trouble for Blair in the past, and this historic win shows the true strength of this year’s team.
