The Blair wrestling team hosted the #1 USA team, Wyoming Seminary, this past Friday night in a dual match. It was a thrilling match from the first bout to the last, and the Bucs came out with a 31-24 victory over the Knights by winning 8 out of 14 bouts. This win brought Blair back to the #1 ranking in the country.

Marc-Anthony McGowan '23 (106 lbs.) got things rolling for the team as he defeated Beast of the East champion Brandon Cannon 8-5. Ryan Miller '20 (120 lbs.) won by major decision 11-3 over Gregor McNeil. Trevor Mastrogiovanni '20 (126 lbs.) was able to pin his opponent 2:53 into the match.

One of the most impressive matches of the evening was Shayne Van Ness '21 (132 lbs.) defeating Ironman champion Drew Munch by major decision, 19-5. TJ Stewart '22 (170 lbs.) also had a key match that helped the Bucs tremendously in their win. He was able to get several takedowns over Andrew Donahue and come away with a 5-4 victory.

Rylan Rogers '22 (182 lbs.) avenged his loss to Wyoming Seminary's Cole Rees last year by shutting him out on Friday for a 3-0 win. Peyton Craft '21 (195 lbs.) defeated Wolfgang Fable by tech fall with a score of 16-1.

Finishing the match was heavyweight Eli Anthony '20 (285 lbs.). Giving away at least 60 lbs. to his opponent Nate Miller, he still came out with the win with two takedowns, an escape, and two ride-outs, resulting in a 5-0 win.

The next challenge for the Bucs will be on Saturday, January 25th, as they go to St. Edwards in Ohio for a quad.
