Blair Wrestling wins multiple tournaments this past weekend

It has been a great weekend for the Blair Wrestling team, as the Bucs flew down to New Orleans this weekend to compete in the National High School Wrestling Showcase. The team competed in four duals, winning all four, and were named champions. Blair wrestled Christian Brothers Academy (52-6 win), Green Farms Academy (55-12 win), Lake Highland Prep School (33-24 win), and Malvern Prep (39-16 win). Josh Anthony ’24 (215) had an outstanding match against Lake Highland Prep, with a win by fall, securing the win for the team. Other excellent performances by Leo DeLuca ’25 (120), Marc-Anthony McGowan ’23 (126), Will Henckel ’25 (150), Lorenzo Norman ’23 (165), and Carter Neves ’24 (285), who all went undefeated throughout the four duals. 

Additionally, Morgan Edwards ’24 (134) and Sarah Henckel ’26 (167) competed in the 1st annual Girls Beast of the East tournament. Morgan and Sarah both took first place in their weight classes. Morgan wrestled four matches, winning three by pins, all in the first period, and one by decision. Sarah wrestled three matches, winning two by pins in the first period, and one by tech fall. With only two wrestlers competing, Blair finished in 2nd place, with a total of 35.5 team points. 

The next event for the team will be on Tuesday, December 27th, as they compete in the Sam Cali Tournament.
