Blair Wrestling wins Sam Cali Tournament

The Blair Academy wrestling team competed in the Sam Cali Invitational this past week. Blair finished in 1st place with 292 team points, almost 80 points ahead of the second place team. Overall, the team had seven wrestlers compete in the finals, and had six champions. Tyler DeKraker ’26 (113), Leo DeLuca ’25 (120), Marc Anthony McGowan ’23 (126), Matt Lopes ’24 (132), Paul Ognissanti ’24 (157), and Lorenzo Norman ’23 (165).

Logan Rozynski ’24 (144) took 2nd place, as Liam Kilrain ’23 (190) and Josh Anthony ’24 (215) finished in 3rd. Peter Snyder ’26 (175) placed 4th. 

There were many outstanding performances this weekend. Leo Deluca ’25 (120) wrestled 4 matches, winning all by first-period pins. He also had the fastest pin of all the Blair Bucs, winning in only 26 seconds. Tyler DeKraker ’26 (113) won in the round of 16 by fall in only 28 seconds. Marc Anthony McGowan ’23 (126) wrestled 4 matches, winning three by fall and one by decision. Overall, this was an extremely successful tournament for the Blair Wrestling team. The Bucs look forward to their next event which will be on January 6, as they travel to St. Christopher's School in Virginia.
