Over the past weekend, the boys’ basketball team hosted St. Benedict’s Prep in a thrilling the Prep A championship match.
By halftime, the Bucs held a substantial 28 - 18 lead over the Bees. St. Benedict’s tried to rally a comeback, but the Buccaneers pulled away at the end to claim their title as Prep A state champions with a final score of 53-51.
Deron Rippey ’26 led some impressive individual performances on the team, tallying 20 points and going 100% from the free throw line while also contributing five assists, five rebounds, and a steal. Jayden Williams ’24 recorded 11 points, also shooting 100% from the line and recording six rebounds and one assist. Lastly, Jack Bailey ’25 recorded nine points along with seven rebounds, two assists, and one steal.
After a close championship match, the Buccaneers pulled away at the end to clinch the victory and claim their title as Prep A state champions with a final score of 53-51.
