The Blair boys’ cross country team traveled to Livingston to take part in the Newark Invitational at Newark Academy this past Saturday. Racing against a field comprising of five area teams, Andrew Zhang ’26 finished first for Blair and fourth overall with an impressive time of 19:39, dropping half a minute from his last year’s time on the same course. He was followed by freshman phenom Eric Bocanegra ’27 who finished 10th with a time of 20:36. Both runners received medals for their performances.
Weston Trish ’25 finished next for the Bucs with a time of 21:58 to finish 19th overall. Rounding out the varsity seven were Tony Ni ’25 finishing 22nd at 22:12, co-captain Owen Granahan ’24 finishing 23rd at 22:26, Topher Antonelli ’24 finishing 29th at 23:49, and Brayden Yau ’27 finishing 32nd at 25:04.
Blair finished in fourth place as a team. In the JV race, Mason Davson ’26 finished 16th with a time of 23:46, and was followed by Ryan Donlon ’26 at 26:23. All of the runners ran well in their first meet of the year with three of them debuting in their first race of their high school career.
