Boys’ Golf Repeats as MAPL Champions
Blair Academy

On May 12, Blair’s boys golf team traveled to Pottstown, Pennsyvalnia, where they successfully defended their MAPL Championship at Brookside Country Club. The win marked not only their second championship, but also their seventh title in the last 10 editions of the annual championship. Blair had four of the top seven finishers en route to a convincing 15-shot win over second-place Lawrenceville.

Philipp Kuelps ’28 led the Bucs with a three-over-par 75 to finish second overall.  He was followed closely by senior captain James Castle ’26, who shot a 76 to finish third. William Weston ’27 and Daniel Kim ’27 shot 77 and 78 to finish tied for fourth and sixth, respectively. Reflecting on the win, James said, “There was no better way to wrap up my Blair career than winning another MAPL championship. I’m so proud of how the younger guys stepped up all year, but especially in this final tournament. The program is in great shape for the next few years.”

And while Philipp Kuelps was a bit disappointed to narrowly miss a playoff for the individual championship, he said he was “super excited that we repeated as a team” and “thankful for all that our senior captains did for the team this year and this spring.”

As was the case last year, Blair will return five of the six players from this year’s MAPL championship lineup who won the MAPL championship lineup next year, setting the stage for a potential three-peat next season.
