Blair’s boys’ varsity basketball team traveled to New York City over the holiday break to play in the Jordan Brand Holiday Classic at Baruch College. The team made noise all throughout the event, as they earned to dominating wins against The Phelps School, and Our Savior Lutheran.
In their 81-49 victory over Phelps, Blair was firing on all cylinders, shooting 53% from the field as a team. Additionally, they were favorable on the boards, winning the rebounding battle 46-17.
Junior guard Deron Rippey Jr. ’26 led the team that night, with 25 points, five rebounds, five assists, and three steals. Following him was senior forward Jack Bailey ’25 with 16 points, and junior guard Jaen Chatman ’26 with 13 points.
Deron never took his foot off the gas this event, as the guard went off against Our Savior Lutheran the next day, scoring 30 points and shooting 6/9 from beyond the three point line. Blair ended up beating them 81-69, with Brendan Oliver ’25 also contributing with 15 points.
Blair’s next game will be against Peddie on January 8, at 6:30 p.m. at Blair Academy.
