The boys' varsity basketball team traveled up to Massachusetts this past weekend to compete in the Scholar Roundball Classic at the College of Holy Cross. Playing elite prep schools from around country, Blair earned back-to-back wins against Newman School and Phillips Andover Academy.
On Saturday, the team defeated Newman with a final score of 78-77. Overall, it was close the entire game with Blair winning in only three categories (deflections, steals, blocks). However, it was a balanced attack offensively, with four Bucs in double-digit scoring and Deron Rippey '26 leading the efforts with 19 points, six assists, five rebounds, and two steals. Jaen Chatman '26 and Brendan Oliver '25 both had 17 points and Mayo Soyoye '25 followed with 13 points.
Blair finished the weekend with a 70-55 victory over Andover, and Mayo was the leader for the Bucs. The center had 17 points and 21 rebounds in the commanding win. Jaen was leading scorer with 18 points. Jack Bailey '25 also contributed with eleven points, eight rebounds, five assists, and two steals.
The team's next game will be on Saturday, December 28, as they play Phelps at 11:15 a.m. at the Jordan Brand Holiday Classic in New York City.
