It was a magnificent night at Blair Academy this past weekend, as the boys' and girls' varsity soccer teams hosted Sparta High School in the annual "Soccerfest" event. In what was a competitive match, the varsity boys' squad escaped with a 1-0 victory over the Spartans, earning their first win of the 2022-2023 season.
The goal was scored by senior forward Eric Zhang '23, who hit an incredible shot in the first half. In the second half and throughout the game, Blair played great defense that was led by Evan Chomow '24 in the goal. Evan earned his first shutout performance as goalkeeper, and was assisted by Boris Zhukov '23 and Cooper Winegar '23 who made great tackles and stops against Sparta.
Blair's next game will be on Tuesday, September 20, against Pope John at 6:30 p.m under the lights at Hampshire Field.
