Emily Tierney ’25 of the Blair girls’ crew team was recently named to the U.S. Under 19 National Rowing Team. The junior was one of 52 rowers selected to represent the United States in Paris, France, next month at the 2023 World Rowing U19 Championships.

“Being selected for the United States Junior National Team is a huge step in my rowing career,” said Emily. “I am beyond excited to represent Blair and the United States and compete on the 2024 Olympic course in Paris, France.”

Emily is the first rower in program history to be selected to the U19 National Team, and fifth rower overall to make any national team.

“I am extremely proud of Emily's achievements,” said John Redos ’09, Blair's head girls’ crew coach. “She has devoted an immense amount of effort to earn the chance to represent both our country and Blair in Paris. Emily's selection as a member of the U.S. U19 National Team marks a significant milestone in our school’s history. Her dedication serves as an inspiration to her teammates, and we eagerly anticipate following her journey in early August!”

The 2023 World Rowing U19 Championships will be held August 2 to 6 in Paris, at the Vaires-sur-Marne Nautical Stadium, which will host the Olympic rowing and canoe-kayak events and the Paralympic rowing and canoe-kayak events in 2024.
