This past Saturday, Blair's girls varsity crew team won 2023 MAPL championship at Mercer Lake, capturing their second consecutive title and their seventh title in program history. Leading the Bucs was the first varsity boat, winning their race by 13 seconds in their 1500 meter race. Additionally, the fourth varsity boat also won their race which included defeating two highly talented Lawrenceville boats. Blair's second varsity boat earned 2nd place and the third varsity boat earned 3rd.
"It was a great day for Blair rowing," said John Redos '09, Blair's director of rowing. "Regardless of the individual boat results, watching the care and compassion that the athletes showed each other when they were all announced MAPL Champions was inspiring. They embraced a 'cause over self' mindset' that will set this team up for success for years to come."
For the boys' team, the first boat took an overall fourth place closing the gap to Hill by one second. As they continue to add speed and close the gap on the top MAPL crews, the team looks to carry this momentum throughout the rest of the season.
Blair's next regatta will be this weekend at Mid-Atlantics.
