On September 20, the BGXC team went down to the Peddie School to compete in the Jerry Hart Cross-Country Invitational. On a gorgeous afternoon, Blair had 16 runners compete, with all 16 running their fastest time of the year.
A special shout-out to ninth grader Mia Whisnant '29 for finishing her first ever cross country race. Also, Amanda Lin '29 dropped her PR by an astounding six minutes, breaking through the 30-minute barrier in the process. Also congratulations to Bella Simovski '29 and junior Aanya Hemady '27 who both also lowered their PR to below 30 minutes, and to sophomore Maddie Nicholson '28 and junior Corynne McNulty '27 for dropping their PR by over two minutes.
In the varsity race, we were again led by sophomore Marie Sharp '28, and notably all seven runners finished below 24:44. Our "pack" of runners between #2 - #5 (senior Maia Frank '26, junior Victoria Carbonaro '27, freshman Sofia Ghoul '29, and senior Jessica Neary '26) finished within 22 seconds of each other, followed closely by seniors Ashley Hur '26 and Kenzie Quigley '26. Our varsity seven are pictured below having a laugh before their race.
Our nine JV runners were led by freshman Grace Cui '29 who ran her fastest ever time of 25:55. Other notable performances were by sophomore Sophia Lee '28 (27:43), freshman Caroline Eizenstat '29 (27:54).
