GXC vs. Hun recap 10/8/2022

The Red Raiders of The Hun School traveled to Blairstown on a brilliant fall day to compete against the Bucs in a panoply of sports, including cross country. Blair’s Hannah Wilson '26 was leading the race at the halfway point when she suffered a knee injury, opening the door for Hun’s Olivia Bergenholtz to take top honors in the time of 22:40. In second was Blair’s Nina Diem '25, followed by Qiya Zhang '23 in her second-ever cross country race.

When Hun’s Kate Letrent crossed the line in fourth the two teams were tied, 5 - 5. At that point Blair’s pack of Sarah Henckel '26, Renee Tracey '23 and Chandler Wildrick '25 secured the team's victory by all placing in front of Hun’s third girl. With a spread of just 28 seconds, the three showed that they will be a force to be reckoned with in future competitions. Not to be outdone, Blair’s sixth and final finisher, Brigette Starrs '25, defeated her Hun School counterpart by a mere six seconds as the two battled head-to-head over the final mile of the course.

As the race came to a close Blair earned a victory in the only home dual meet of the year by the score of 23 - 32. Blair's next race will be on Saturday, 10/15, as they travel to the Pennington school.
