Girls' Cross Country keeps improving through win against Pennington

The Pennington School hosted Blair at Mercer County’s Rosedale Park in a dual meet under cool, cloudy skies, setting the stage for the Bucs to run fast times, and the girls did not disappoint.  Although Pennington’s number one runner won the individual race, Blair took second through fifth and seventh to secure victory by the score of 21 - 36. Marty Dericks '22 and Jessica Wilm '21, both running under twenty-two minutes for the first time in their careers, led the team with Corrine Wilm '21 (in a personal best 5k time) and Elise Sigety '20 finishing ahead of Pennington’s number two. Caeley Tierney '19 (in her own best-ever 5k time) was Blair’s fifth and final varsity scorer. Not to be outdone, Genevieve Koffman '19 (in a season best) and Abby Morris '20 (who lowered her personal best by almost a full minute) displaced Pennington’s fifth girl to contribute to the team’s victory.  Junior varsity runners Cam Bentley '20 and Elizabeth Montfort '20 ran well. Elizabeth notably ran her best time by almost twenty-five seconds to dip into the 24s again. Lucy Clayton '21 and Ilyssa Gibson '22 also ran season bests to round out the day. Blair’s five-runner team average, 22:16, was the best of the year so far and presages further fast running as the team heads into the championship portion of its season.
