The girls' varsity soccer team held a captivating first win against Delaware Valley for the 2023 season. With Blair having possession about 75% of the time, they could confidently and effectively connect passes and form plays to achieve a 6-0 win. The midfielders worked especially hard, fighting to distribute excellent and fair balls into the box and play out to the sides, allowing the wingers to press it forward and cross it in.
The first goal was at the eight-minute mark. Tessa Koehler ‘26 placed the first goal beautifully in the back right corner after a three-man press forced the play into the box. From there, the goals got much more accessible. With Delaware Valley not putting much pressure on the defense, Madison Guiry ‘25, Ashton Laczkowski ‘24, and the right and left backs could pass up in a composed, organized manner. Brynne Grant '24 scored four out of the six goals, while Maggie Antosek '25 also placed one. Three of the goals were scored on corners, and the girls showed great strength in their ability to navigate set pieces.
Blair's next game is on Thursday, September 21. They will host Mount Olive at 4:30 p.m.
