Softball recap 4/16/2026

In a quintessential pitcher's duel yesterday, Blair Academy softball extended its winning streak with a gritty 1–0 shutout victory over Lawrenceville. The win improves the Buccaneers' record to an impressive 5–1 on the season.

For the second time this month, McKenna Osgood '28 proved to be untouchable in a high-stakes environment. Osgood tossed a 7-inning complete game shutout, scattering just four hits while striking out 9 batters. Despite Lawrenceville threatening with more hits than the Buccaneers (4 to 2), Osgood’s composure—evidenced by her 0.00 ERA for the game—kept the Big Red off the scoreboard entirely.

Offense was at a premium as Lawrenceville’s Lily Sung matched Osgood's intensity, allowing only two hits herself. However, Blair made their opportunities count in the bottom of the 3rd inning. Osgood helped her own cause, finishing 1-for-2 with a clutch double and scoring the game's only run. McKenna Stanford '29 provided the only other hit for the Bucs, going 1-for-2 with a single.

While both teams were credited with one error, Blair’s defense remained stout during Lawrenceville's late-inning comeback attempts to preserve the narrow lead.
