Swim Team's Record-Breaking Performance at State Championship

This past week, the swim team competed in the NJISAA Swimming State Championships.

Jason Zhao ’24 came 13th overall out of 42 swimmers in the 100-meter freestyle, and the boys’ team showed remarkable teamwork, earning 12th place in the 200-meter free relay. Micheal Mokrov ’27 came in 25th overall in the 100-meter backstroke out of 38 swimmers. Jason also placed 13th overall in the 100-meter breaststroke out of 37 swimmers. The boys secured seventh place overall.

For the girls, Hannah Wilson ’26 dominated the competition, taking first place overall in the 200-meter freestyle, shattering both her meet record as well as the Blair school record(1:51.83). Wilson also earned second in the 100 freestyle, breaking another Blair school record(52.15). Riley Bacinski ’25 took second overall in the 50 free (24.46) and fifth overall in the 100 fly(58.63), breaking Blair school records in both. Meanwhile, Parker Lesley ’26 gave a standout performance, taking 17th in the 50 free overall out of 63 swimmers, while Piper Summers ’24 came in 16th in the 100 fly out of 40 swimmers. Lesley was awarded 15th overall out of 54 swimmers in the 100 free. Allie Wolff '24 came in 15th overall in the 500 free out of 29 swimmers. 

The team’s relay efforts were equally impressive, with the girls’ 200 free relay claiming 5th place out of 16 teams and the girls’ 400 free relay securing fourth place out of 15 competitors. Additionally, Natalie Kislin ’25 and Kate Brandt ’26 delivered commendable performances, with Natalie finishing 21st overall and Kate securing 25th place.

Overall, the girls finished fifth in their division, a testament to the hard work and talent of the team.
