5/14 MAPL Track recap

The varsity track and field team traveled to the Hill School this past Saturday for the 2022 MAPL Championships. Overall, the girls' team finished in 3rd team and the boys' team finished in 5th.

On the boys side, there was success both on the track and during the field events. Sophomore Isaac Greene '24 started out the day strong with a first place finish in the 1600 meter run. He kept the momentum up with a second place finish in the 800 meter run, and then finished out the track events as a part of the second place 4x400 meter relay team. The other key runners were junior Patrick Payne '23, sophomore Grant Krueger '24, and senior Timmy Xi '22. In the field events, Patrick got second in the Pole Vault, Losini Maka '22 took first in the Discus throw, and senior Sami Souayah '22 took second in the Javelin throw.

On the girls side, there were many similarly impressive finishes. Junior Chloe Lau '23 started out the day with a second place finish in the 100 meter Hurdles, followed by the 4x100 meter relay team, comprised of sophomore Mackenzie Schreiber '24, junior Mackenzie Ohene '23, sophomore Petra Taylor '24, and senior captain Nikki Patterson '22, also taking second. Nikki and Mackenzie Schreiber kept up that momentum in the 400 meter dash, taking impressive first and third place finishes, respectively. Sophomore Petra Taylor followed that performance with a third place finish in the 800 meter run before working with Schreiber and Patterson, along with Chloe, to finish second in the 4x400 meter relay race. Triple-threat Chloe also performed impressively in the Triple Jump, getting third.
