The Bucs headed down to Peddie School on Friday, May 1, for the State Championships,  delivering one of the program’s strongest performances in years. The boys team battled all day and earned an impressive 4th-place finish overall—just a few points shy of 3rd—marking a huge step forward and a true testament to a complete team effort across both track and field.

On the track, the 100m was a major highlight, with Mayan Muchugia ’26, Parker Lee ’27 and Sekario Crossman ’28 all putting together outstanding races. Mayan led the charge with a blazing 10.80, earning 2nd place and a huge personal best. Parker continued his dominant season with a 6th place finish in the 100m and added another 6th place in the 200m, continuing to chip away at his personal records. The boys 4x400 relay, featuring Pami Odusanya ’27, Parker Moss ’29, Teddy Hahn ’28, and Sekario Crossman ’28) closed out the meet in style, placing 4th with a strong, competitive time.

In the field, Jack McCauley ’26 once again stole the show in discus, launching a massive 168-05 to take 1st place and break his own school record yet again. The javelin crew had a huge day as well, led by Oliver Schwartz ’28’s 2nd place throw of 126-07, with Jacob Kaufelt ’28 (4th) and Xavier Lake ’28 (5th) adding critical team points. Eric Zhu ’28 soared to a 2nd place finish in the high jump, while Jaiveer Chauhan ’26 delivered an outstanding double, placing 2nd in both the long jump and triple jump. Race Teeple ’28 added to the momentum with a huge personal record in the pole vault, earning 2nd place.

The girls team also put together a strong showing on the track and in the field. Lola Bambe ’27, Sammy Goff ’27, and Bailey Wiseman ’28 all contributed valuable points in the 100m, while Lola added a 5th place finish in the 200m with a season-best performance. Perla Swann ’28 had an incredible race in the 1600m, running a huge personal record and placing 4th overall. In the field events, Lea Myers ’27 (2nd) and Lola Bambe (6th) led the way in the long jump, while Elizabeth Brown ’28 and Sammy Goff both had standout days in the pole vault, hitting big personal records and scoring for the team.

All in all, this was a full-team performance—competitive, gritty and fun to watch from start to finish.

Next up, we head back to Peddie for a JV Last Chance Meet before returning home for the MAPL Championships on Saturday, May 9. We’re excited to celebrate our seniors and close out the season together—hope to see you there. Go Bucs!
