MAPL CHAMPS

2018

Girls' Varsity Soccer MAPL champs

Our philosophy is one of hard work and positive team chemistry. Coaches push players to fulfill their potential as both athletes and, eventually, as leaders of the team.

Blair’s varsity squad carries between 18 and 22 players. The team trains six days a week, and a varsity player is expected to attend every practice and game. The training sessions are typically two hours long, including warm up, and the team usually competes in matches on Wednesday and Saturday.

Since Blair fielded its first girls' varsity soccer team in fall 1990, the team has enjoyed great success including a prep “B” state championship, two appearances in the prep “A” finals and several semi-final berths. The 2012 squad boasted a 12-4 record, along with state tournament wins over both Peddie and Lawrenceville.

JV

Overview

Blair has a JV team for the development of less experienced players. The JV girls’ soccer team plays 14 to 16 matches per season, including participation in Peddie Day—an annual athletic contest during which all fall sports teams vie for the Kelley-Potter Cup—and at which a JV victory is equal to one achieved at the varsity level. On average, each season, one to four former JV players move up to the varsity level. There are also occasions throughout the season when JV players have the opportunity to train with the varsity team and coaching staff.
