Volleyball

In fall 2010, Blair organized an intramural program to feed a growing interest among Blair girls in the sport of volleyball; the program has since evolved into a varsity team.

Volleyball begins in late August with a week-long preseason camp that consists of several practices and team activities a day, as well as scrimmages. In season, Blair competes against other NJISAA schools. Rutgers Prep, Lawrenceville, Pope John and Warren Hills are commonly seen on the schedule.

2024, The Mid-Atlantic Prep League added volleyball as one of it's sanctioned sports. Blair competes against Lawrenceville, Mercersburg, and Hun during the regular season. Additionally, they compete at four team league championship event in October.

About Coach Smith

Kailey Smith joined Blair in 2025 as a history teacher and Blair’s head varsity volleyball coach. Beginning her playing career in 2012, she was the libero at Carleton College in Northfield, Minnesota, from 2019 to 2022. After graduating, Ms. Smith served as a student coach for Carleton in spring 2023. Shortly after, she joined the coaching team at The Harvey School and led the team to record-breaking seasons in both 2023 and 2024.

About Coach Patterson

Vicki Patterson joined Blair's English department in 2025, bringing to Blair 32 years of experience in the Allamuchy Township School District and extensive experience working with Blair students as a writing and reading tutor. Additionally, Mrs. Patterson serves as the assistant girls' varsity volleyball coach. Vicki holds a BA in English from Rutgers University and an MA in special education from Penn State. She founded Allamuchy’s preschool disabilities program in 1993 and has taught a wide range of subjects across multiple grade levels. Her love for teaching also extends to higher education, where she served as an adjunct professor at William Paterson University from 2002 to 2006, mentoring future educators in instructional methods for math, English and science. Vicki lives off campus with her husband, Tom, in Andover, and they are proud parents of Owen ’17, Gareth ’18 and Jack.

About Coach Hodakowski

With a Buccaneer family lineage too long to detail, Bridget Hodakowski ’99 has worked at Blair since 2011, for many years in the advancement office supporting the annual fund, alumni engagement and school governance. In 2021, she returned to where she started her career years earlier as a member of Blair’s admission office. For several years, she served as prospective families’ first point of contact with the School and warmly welcomed them to campus as admission coordinator. In 2024, she was appointed to the faculty as admission counselor and a member of the coaching staff to the JV volleyball and JV girls’ lacrosse teams. 

A former member of the Board of Governors, a current rep for the class of 1999 and proud Blair alumna, Bridget holds a bachelor’s degree in political science from Dickinson College and found her passion in education while working as an assistant director in undergraduate and graduate admission at Stevens Institute of Technology in the early 2000s. She lives with her husband, Marc, and their children, Jack '29 and Drew, in Mason Hall. 

About Coach Glosenger

Anna Glosenger was appointed to Blair in 2025 as science teacher and assistant JV girls' volleyball coach. From Rutgers University, she completed her BA in physics with a concentration in natural sciences. Beyond her undergraduate work, Anna gained hands-on experience as a data analytics intern at The Bridge in West Caldwell, where she improved clinician productivity, reduced data errors and developed financial plans. She has also served as an IT technician with digital classroom services, testing and ensuring the functionality of classroom technology to support effective learning.
