Blair Wrestling Earns Individual Titles at Nationals

This past weekend the Blair wrestling team traveled to Lehigh University to compete in the National Prep Wrestling Championships. The Buccaneers had a strong showing with several notable performances, placing second overall and winning five individual national prep titles.

 The girls team concluded their impressive season with an impressive showing at the championship. In the 120 lb. division, Jocelyn O’Keeffe ’24 finished in fourth place, with two wins by fall on the day. Victoria Carbonaro ’27 secured a semifinals win and placed second in her division at her first national championship. Corynne McNulty ’27 dominated the competition at 132 lbs. with three straight falls and secured her first national prep title. Morgan Edwards ’24 battled for a spot on the podium, earning third place in her division, and  Sarah Henckel ’26 dominated 13-6 in the semis, and then got a quick fall in the finals for her second consecutive national prep title.

 On the boys’ side, Mikey Batista ’27 took fourth at 113 lbs. Billy Dekraker ’25 won his first national prep title with a comeback win against Lake Highland Prep. William Henckel ’25 bumped up to the 175 lb. weight class to win his first national title. Peter Snyder ’26 also moved up a weight to 190 lbs. and placed fifth in his class. Cael Mielnik '27 placed second in the 215lbs weight class. Leo Deluca '25 placed second at 120lbs, Logan Rozynski '24 placed second at 144lbs and Paul Ognissanti '24 placed second at the 157lbs. Powerhouse Carter Neves ’24 won his first national title in dominating fashion, not giving up a takedown all year.
