As a scholarship student at Blair in the mid-1940s, the late John C. Bogle '47 learned the value of persistence, courage, determination and patience—all of which were essential to his recovery following a devastating professional failure early in his career, as well as to his eventual founding of the world's largest mutual fund company, The Vanguard Group.
