REGISTRATION FOR 2018-2019

Welcome to Blair!

The schedules that follow represent our attempt to combine business and pleasure in welcoming you (and welcoming you back) to Blair. New students and their parents are reminded that "veterans" are here as well, so please don't hesitate to ask questions or to let us know how we can be of assistance in any way.

A note for everyone registering: At the health center, you will get a registration card. You must keep this card with you throughout the registration process in order to get your course schedule.

Please note that within each category below is a link to a printable version of that day's schedule.

Football, Friday, August 24

Welcome! Please follow the steps outlined below:

  1. Get your dorm assignment and parking instructions at entrance.
  2. Park…leave belongings in car.
  3. Check in with one of the coaches in the dorm who will instruct you regarding the morning schedule for unpacking, getting equipment, etc.
10:00 a.m.

REGISTRATION
Begin at the Health Center, where you will be given your registration card. Proceed to Clinton Hall to check forms, have your ID/debit card photo taken (If not taken in the spring, clean shaven and collared shirt, please!), get schedule, etc. (If your registration card has not been approved, your first stop must be at the business office on the bottom floor of Ivy Hall.)

12:00-12:45 p.m. Lunch for players and parents in the Romano Dining Hall.
12:45 p.m. Meeting for players and parents in the dining hall with Head of School Chris Fortunato and coaching staff.
1:30 p.m. Team meeting (players) in Cowan Auditorium
2:45 p.m. Practice begins

PARENTS…PLEASE NOTE : There will not be general orientation/information meetings in dorms for parents today. Parents of boarders and day students who live nearby are encouraged to return for orientation meetings that begin in dormitories at 2 p.m. on Saturday, September 8. In addition to the orientation meetings, any parents interested in volunteering throughout the year are invited to a parent volunteer meeting and luncheon in the Wean Room of the Romano Dining Hall at 12 p.m. And, of course, all parents are cordially invited to a reception at the Head of School’s home between 3 and 4 p.m. on September 8.

Pre-Season, Monday, September 3

Welcome! Please follow the steps outlined below:

Registration will take place from 9:00-11:30 a.m.

  1. Get your dorm assignment and parking instructions at entrance.
  2. Park...leave belongings in car.
  3. PROCEED TO HEALTH CENTER WHERE YOU WILL BE GIVEN YOUR REGISTRATION CARD. You must keep this registration card with you throughout the registration process.
  4. Proceed to Clinton Hall to check forms, have your photo taken for ID/debit card, get schedule, etc. (If your registration card has not been approved, your first step must be at the business office on the bottom floor of Ivy Hall.)
  5. Proceed to dormitory where, in exchange for your registration card, you will be given your room key.
  6. Proceed to the School Store in Blair Commons. All deliveries from UPS and FedEx Ground can be picked up here. All students photographed today may also pick up their ID card and mailbox key.
11:30 a.m.-12:30 p.m.- Lunch for athletes & parents in the Romano Dining Hall
12:45 p.m. Team Meeting for athletes & parents:

International, Friday, September 7

*This particular registration day is for those families who received an international student enrollment contract.

Students & Parents:

New students and their parents are reminded that "veterans" are here as well; please don't hesitate to ask questions or to let us know how we can be of assistance in any way. *Please inform your Housemaster if you will not be staying in the dorm tonight. If you leave campus overnight, you must return by 1 p.m. on Saturday.

At the health center, you will get a registration card. You must keep this card with you throughout the registration process in order to get your course schedule.

9:00 a.m. -11:30 a.m.

REGISTRATION

  6. Proceed to the School Store in Blair Commons. All deliveries from UPS and FedEx Ground can be picked up here. Any students photographed today may also pick up their ID card and mailbox key.

     

11:45 a.m. -12:45 p.m. LUNCHEON for all international students & parents at Sharpe House
12:45 p.m. Campus tours conducted in various languages depart from the admission office porch (Locke Hall)
2:00-5:00 p.m. Additional time for unpacking & settling into rooms
5:15-6:15 p.m. DINNER in the Romano Dining Hall (families welcome)
8:30-9:30 p.m. BBQ outside of Blair Commons. Hamburgers, hot dogs, etc…Meet old friends and make new ones!
10:30 p.m. Dormitory check-in
11:00 p.m. Lights out

Final, Saturday, September 8

12:00-1:00 p.m. PARENT VOLUNTEER MEETING & LUNCHEON, for any parent interested in volunteering during the year, in the Wean Room of the Romano Dining Hall
1:30 p.m. ALL BOARDING PARENTS meet with housemasters in respective dorms
2:15 p.m. ALL PARENTS meet with the Head of School in DuBois Theatre in Armstrong-Hipkins Center for the Arts
2:15 p.m.

ALL NEW STUDENTS meet at the Admission Office porch for an optional campus tour with Head Tour Guides. 
(You may want to bring your academic schedule with you.)

3:00-4:00 p.m. All parents are invited to Sharpe House, the home of Mr. & Mrs. Fortunato, for light refreshments. Parents should plan to leave campus following this reception.
4:00 p.m. NEW JUNIORS! Meet Mr. Gerdsen in Locke Hall Conference Room.
4:30 p.m. ALL DAY STUDENTS (including seniors) meet in Cowan Auditorium (Bogle Hall)
5:00 p.m.

CLASS MEETINGS

  • 9th grade - Chesnutt Chapel (Clinton Hall)
  • 10th grade - Cowan Auditorium (Bogle Hall)
  • 11th grade - Wean Theatre (Armstrong-Hipkins Center for the Arts)
  • 12th grade - DuBois Theatre (Armstrong-Hipkins Center for the Arts)

ALL NEW STUDENTS meet with their class monitors immediately following the class meetings.

5:30-7:00 p.m. Picnic Dinner for all on campus (please wear your name tags)
8:00-10:00 p.m. Dormitory meetings & activities
10:00 p.m. Underclass students in dorms
10:45 p.m. Seniors in dorms
