Campus Arts Facilities

Even amongst other boarding schools, Blair is superior because of its emphasis on developing a student’s character as well as encouraging academic, athletic and artistic success. Blair students are kind, respectful and simply extraordinary.

Summer, illinois

Blair boasts outstanding facilities for its fine and performing arts programs.

Performance spaces

Armstrong-Hipkins Center for the Arts features the 500-seat DuBois Theatre and the intimate, black box-style Wean Theatre. The Robert J. Evans Open-Air Theatre is located adjacent to Blair Lake.

Rehearsal spaces

A music room, dance studio and multiple practice rooms are housed in Armstrong-Hipkins Center for the Arts.

2D studio spaces

The fine arts department is housed in the Chiang Center for Innovation and Collaboration, where open, light-filled art studios and glass-walled classrooms occupy the top floor. State-of-the-art media labs are located on the Chiang Center’s first and second floors.

3D studio spaces

Our Park Street maker space is directly adjacent to campus, and its high ceilings and open floor plan offer a venue where students can turn their ideas into reality. The Chiang Center is home to a fully equipped ceramics studio and a second maker space.

Exhibit spaces

Armstrong-Hipkins Center for the Arts’ Romano Gallery exhibits the work of professional artists, as well as that of Blair students and faculty. In addition, student artwork is regularly displayed in The Black Canteen and Clinton Hall. Student art is also exhibited in the Chiang Center for Innovation and Collaboration, providing a visible example of Blair’s integration of art and technology across our curriculum.
